In the right place.

Books I recently checked out from the library for research:

Informal Transport in the Developing World
Paratransit in America
Urban travel and sustainable development
Transit Oriented Development
Sustainability and Cities
Rural Transport Policy

I am so totally in the right place. I actually want to read these books.

Isolation.

This is what I see as being (one of the many things) wrong with our society.

(This image is taken out of context from an article on energy efficiency of set-top-boxes. Striking, no?)

Been around a long time.

In reading articles on sustainable and climate change, I am struck by how far back they date. I often see papers from the early 1990s. The "Green Revolution" may have become popular around 2004, but even the philosophy of corporate sustainability took shape many years before.

Financial tyranny

Watched The Inside Job today. I want to go blow up the financial industry. "Storm the bastille," as Lauren put it. There are just no words to convey the rage I feel right now. Their greed is unimaginable. And the status quo remains, even in the aftermath of those horrible financial disaster. The same ones responsible for setting the stage are still in positions of power and influence.

Perhaps I should give up grad school and become one of those WTO protestors or something.

Or... perhaps not. But still, this make me fuckin' mad.
